Jewish & Israeli Organizations Responding to the Earthquake in Morocco
Jewish and Israeli humanitarian organizations are on the ground in Morocco, where they are working in collaboration with local civil society organizations, as rescue efforts continue following a 6.8 magnitude earthquake that killed more than 2,000 people.
Following is a list of organizations, collated by OLAM and SID-Israel, collecting donations for rescue operations, shelter, emergency supplies, and more for victims. Please note the list is not complete, and we will continue to update it as we receive more information about which organizations are there and what they are doing.
*Cadena: Cadena is deploying an initial assessment team for humanitarian and medical needs. The team includes doctors, as well as logistics and operations experts.
*FSJU: France’s FSJU is coordinating support initiatives with both OLAM partners and its international network, and has opened a dedicated fund for Morocco victims.
*IsraAID: IsraAID’s emergency response team has flown to the affected region to provide urgent humanitarian relief to victims.
*JDC: JDC’s emergency response team on the ground in Marrakesh is working in partnership with the Jewish community of Morocco, where JDC has worked since 1947. Aid is currently focused on meeting the most urgent needs, like providing food, temporary shelter, medicine and medical support, and evacuation support, where needed.
*NATAN Worldwide Disaster Relief: A NATAN relief team, including volunteer doctors, a nurse, and a trauma relief specialist, will provide medical aid and trauma relief, and will perform an initial assessment of needs. The team is there at the request of the local community.
SmartAID: SmartAID has deployed a team to Morocco to provide immediate disaster support.
*United Hatzalah of Israel: United Hatzalah has sent a delegation to Morocco for disaster relief.
*World Jewish Relief: Through trusted partners operating in the region, World Jewish Relief will provide supplies, including food, water, tents, and medicines, to those within and beyond the Jewish community.
